Range: Sri Lanka This creature was transformed from a woman in grief over her child's murder by her husband (served to her in a gristly curry where she finds a severed finger, how's that for October Halloween darkness?), and its voice haunts the jungles. It is a blood-curdling sound, that can be heard in the night, and it is said that to hear it means a death is portended. It is suspected that the sound comes from an owl of some sort, though the identity of the creature that emits it has never been determined.
