We Are animals. Denying our wild nature simply drives it underground, where it stamps its hooves and sharpens its claws and feasts on our preconceptions. Eventually, we must face that elemental Beast: the partner both within and without who reminds us that we are flesh and blood and bone and beast. To dance with the Beast is to recall your primal self, either underneath your own skin or in the presence of another soul – human or otherwise. It means tossing off the trappings of your so-called civilized nature and letting Nature itself take hold. Sensually aware, the Beast connects a dancer to ancestral memory, where illusions fall away to be replaced by raw implacable Truth.
