We are both partners and prisoners of Time. Moving through an endless Now, we recall the past and predict the future. Even so, memory is treacherous and foresight is flawed. The Seer dances within a precarious sense of Now, Then, and Will-Be, trusting discipline and experience to keep her from a fall. And yet, the potential to fall is there, especially if you overstep… or, paradoxically, if you are TOO cautious to fully trust yourself. The past is a trap, the future an illusion. We can draw upon both to guide our steps, but the essence of dance – and of life – involves moving through the moment with cautious grace and clear perceptions. Missteps are unavailable, but they don’t have to be disastrous.
