The trails around my home are thick with blackberry brambles. Hedges that rise above my head. The darkest, plumpest berries are always out of reach, just a little too high, or cradled within a thorny nest. Unattainable except to the little winged ones, who dart and weave, unafraid of the razor-sharp tangle, to sip at the nectar from the flowers, or pluck the sweetly ripe berries.
